BIG SPRING, TX — A bond election for Big Spring ISD is set for Saturday, May 4th. The total bond amount will be $219,000,000 that will be broken up into two propositions.
Proposition A is for $216,700,000 that will be used to build a brand new high school, abate and demolish the old high school, and new Band and Music at Goliad Elementary for 5th and 6th grade students. It will also cover a new maintenance and transportation shop, turf, bleachers, lighting, and concessions for the soccer team that will be stationed by the ATC, drainage at 4 elementary campuses, and replace 30 HVAC units.
Proposition B is for $2,300,000 for field lighting and an 8-lane track at Memorial Stadium.
Big Spring ISD will offer the public another guided tour of Big Spring High School tonight at 6 pm. This is an opportunity for the public to see the current state of the building for themselves. Anyone wanting to tour the school should meet in front of Steer Gym at 6 pm tonight.
After tonight, the next tour will be on Monday, April 22nd at 6 pm and on Saturday, April 27th at 10 AM. Early voting for the City and School elections begins on April 22nd.
