April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Blue is the official color of prevention and Texans across the state will wear blue to show their commitment to ending child abuse and to show their support to children suffering abuse and neglect.
Blue became the color of prevention when a grandmother from Virginia received the devasting news that her beloved grandson had died due to serve injuries caused by child abuse. In an expression of grief and outrage she tied a blue ribbon to the antenna of her van to remember the “bruised and battered body of her grandson” and to alert the community to the tragedy of child abuse. Since this moment organizations across the nation have adopted the blue ribbon as a symbol of our commitment to ending child abuse and of hope that one day no child suffers abuse or neglect. Texans will renew their commitment to awareness by wearing blue this Friday, April 5, 2024.
Join CASA of West Texas and thousands of Texans as we wear blue to show our commitment and support to ending child abuse! GO BLUE
