BIG SPRING, TX — Yesterday, the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County held their annual meeting at Hotel Settles. During the meeting, Executive Director Christian Fair introduced the Executive Board of Directors, board members, and thanked those who participated on this year’s Allocations Committee.
With pledges, donations, and fundraising events the United Way was able to surpass their goal of $250,000. The total amount from the 2024 campaign raised was $266,137. After allowing for shrinkage and the operating budget, the organization was able to distribute $172,179 to their partnering agencies. These are health and human service organizations that serve the residents in Howard County. Victim Services received $16,992, the largest portion of the distribution.
NuStar Energy was awarded with the United Way’s Leadership Award. Fair advised that their employee pledges were over $100,000 and they continuously volunteer throughout the year. The United Way Volunteer of the Year was Kelsie Jones for her work on the Executive Board and her fundraising efforts.
Congratulations to them!
