BIG SPRING, TX — October is Depression Awareness Month. Depression and other Mental Illnesses impact individuals with an Intellectual or Developmental Disability (IDD) 2 to 3 times more often than those in the general public. Sadly, only about 10% of these individuals get the appropriate treatment for their mental illness. In order to take the first steps in addressing this issue West Texas Centers is offering a FREE training workshop on Depression.
On Tuesday, October 24th, West Texas Centers will hold a discussion why those with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities go undiagnosed and causes and symptoms of depression. Plus, they’ll provide guidance on getting help if you are dealing with depression and tips for helping someone else that is fighting this battle. This event will be held on October 24th, from 10 am to 12 pm at the West Texas Centers Harris Building, located at 3205 S. Highway 87 in Big Spring.
