MARTIN COUNTY, TX — Yesterday, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Stanton ISD substitute teacher.
According to Jan McCown, Stanton ISD Superintendent, on Tuesday, Sept. 5th, the administration received a report that a District substitute teacher may have engaged in improper communication and possible educator misconduct with a student or minor. Upon receipt of the report, the District immediately contacted local law enforcement of the allegation and reported it to the Texas Education Agency and Child Protective Services.
The substitute was arrested yesterday and is no longer employed by Stanton ISD.
McCown went on to say that the school administration is grateful for the cooperation it received from the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, and they’ll continue to cooperate to the fullest extent permitted by law with law enforcement and other state and local agencies relating to educator misconduct.
Stanton ISD administration encourages anyone with concerns of suspected improper conduct or an inappropriate relationship with a staff member and a student to immediately contact the Superintendent’s office or the Martin County Sheriff’s Department.
