BIG SPRING, TX — The Big Spring Police Department released a public service announcement yesterday urging Big Spring residents to be aware that fireworks are strictly prohibited within Big Spring city limits. Not only is using them within the city limits illegal, but they also pose serious dangers, especially in hot weather.
Fireworks can cause injuries, property damage, and even loss of life.
They are also a grass fire hazard. Dry conditions make grass fires highly likely. Lighting a firework could start a large-scale blaze that endangers homes, wildlife, and our environment.
Citizens are encouraged to celebrate responsibly by choosing safer alternatives to enjoy the summer season. Attend authorized public firework displays like Pops in the Park on July 3rd and spread awareness about the risks.
