BIG SPRING, TX — The 26th annual Pops in the Park is fast approaching. The event is celebrated annually on July 3rd in Big Spring at the Comanche Trail Amphitheater. This will be a significant year in the program’s history as it marks the first event since the passing of Dr. Keith Graumann, long-time conductor of the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Graumann volunteered with Pops in the Park for many years and this year, the Pops Committee has decided to include a tribute for him. Rocky Harris, former Big Spring High School Band Director, will conduct the orchestra for this year’s Pops in the Park.
In addition to the tribute for Dr. Graumann, the chorus will be making a return to the event. Rehearsals are currently being held every Tuesday now ’til the event at First Presbyterian Church from 7-9 pm for anyone interested in participating with the chorus.
Volunteers and sponsors are still needed for this year’s event. For more information, contact Debbye Valverde at the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce.
