Cheerleader and Mascot tryouts will be held this weekend at Howard College in Big Spring. A clinic will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, at 5 PM and tryouts will be at 1 PM on Sunday, April 23. Both will be held at the Harold Davis Fitness Center. Participants will learn a dance and a cheer. Then they’ll also be able to showcase their jumps and tumbling, however tumbling is not required. Plus, an original chant will also be required.
According to Katie Creswell, with the Howard College Cheer program, the chant doesn’t have to be long, but it has to be original and not something that has been seen in the high schools.
There is an online registration form you must fill out before the tryouts, the deadline to do so is Friday, April 21st, at 5 PM. Be advised a dress code will be in place for the tryouts.
Mascots are welcome to attend the clinics, but are required to bring their own 2-3 minute skit for their try-out. This skit should include music, props, etc., and should focus on crowd involvement. Mascots must bring their own music.
