BIG SPRING, TX — On Tuesday afternoon, the West Texas VA Health Care System held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Virtual Health Resource Center located on the 1st floor of the facility in Big Spring.
According to Robert Hoff, acting Director of the WTXVAHCS, the Virtual Health Resource Center connects and teaches veterans, caregivers, family, and staff how to use virtual tools that the VA health care system has available to them.
“It really teaches them how to use these wonderful virtual tools so they can connect to care and their providers. I use it as a veteran myself,” said Hoff.
He went on to advised that the WTXVAHCS is the 17th facility in the nation to implement this initiative.. It is estimated that in 5 years, there will be a Virtual Health Resource Center in every VA facility across the country.
The initiative was led by Valerie Gross, My Health e Vet Coordinator for WTXVAHCS. Gross told KBest News that she was excited to have the center available because it offers hands-on training for veterans, which could be especially beneficial for older veterans who aren’t very familiar with technology.
