BIG SPRING, TX — The 5 Under 55 recipients for this year were announced on Wednesday by the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce.
The 5 Under 55 which recognizes 5 people under the age of 55 for their professional positive impact on the community. Each year, a committee of previous nominees selects five recipients who are considered to be upstanding community members who give back beyond the duties of their employment. These recipients show their heart for Big Spring and Howard County by their deep involvement in community events, their ability to showcase their place of employment, and by presenting new ideas that impact community services and more. Those receiving the award at tonight’s Annual Chamber Banquet include Derek Wash with Pirkle Weir Insurance, Adrienne Green and Malinda Flenniken at KBest Media, Samantha Rodriguez with Scenic Mountain Medical Center, and Dathan Jones with the Big Spring YMCA.
The Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce will have its annual banquet tonight at the Dorothy Garrett coliseum. There will be an Alive After 5 from 5 to 6:30, followed by dinner and the awards and presentations will begin at 7pm.
In addition to the presentations for the 5 Under 55, the Chamber will also recognize the recipients of the Russ McEwen Community Award and the Man and Woman of the Year for 2022. Plus, the gavel will be ceremoniously passed from current Chamber Board President Kayla Jo Nichols to incoming Chamber Board President Michelle Hamlin.
