BIG SPRING, TX — Several events are happening in the Big Spring area over Veterans Day Weekend.
Veterans Day Parade – Friday, 11/11/22
The West Texas VA Health Care System in Big Spring will host its annual Veterans Day Parade today (11/11/22) at 11 AM outside of their facility. Find a live stream of that on our KBest Media Facebook page.
Veterans Day Meal – Free for Veterans, Friday, 11/11/22
Scenic Mountain Medical Center invites Veterans to join them for a free meal from the Yellow Rose Cafe today (11/11/22) from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. The Yellow Rose Café is located inside of Scenic Mountain Medical Center, 1601 W. 11th Place in Big Spring.
Veterans Gravel Grind – Saturday, 11/12/22
Veteran’s Gravel Grind presented by VIM Racing will be held in Coahoma on Saturday morning with races beginning at 8 AM. Proceeds from the event will help fund the Trail Warrior Project, a non-profit that helps get veterans out bike-packing. The event is open to everyone with Full Grind, Half Grind, and Quarter Grind MTB categories that will be chip timed and competitive. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each category male and female with a podium and award ceremony.
The Full Grind is a 100k, which is approximately 63 miles.
The Half Grind is a 62k, which measures approximately 39 miles.
Quarter Grind is a 25k, which measures approximately 16.5 miles.
Participants must be older than 13 to ride/race 13-16 year-olds must be accompanied by a guardian. More information and online registration is available at www.trailwarrior.org, but on-site registration will also be available.
Blow Out at the Bunker – FREE Event to Honor Veterans – Saturday, 11/12/22
Blow Out at the Bunker will be held tomorrow (11/12/22) at the McMahon Wrinkle Airport.
5k begins at 9 AM at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and will move to the Hangar 25 Air Museum. Cost to participate in the 5k is $30 per entry.
Car Show set-up begins at 10 AM. Over 40 vehicles are registered as participants.
No-Prep Drag Race begins at 10 AM. Vehicles are anticipated to hit up to 170 mph within an 1/8 of a mile. This is $50 per entry, $200 buy-in with a 100% payout. There are over 50 vehicles registered for this event.
Cornhole Tournament registration begins at 10 AM and bags fly at 11 AM. Register on Scoreholio.
There will also be live acoustic music by J.R. McNutt from The Band Big Spring, and food trucks will also be at the event. Activities are expected to continue until 8 PM.
Craft Fair
Trinity Baptist Church will host it’s annual Craft Fair tomorrow from 9 am to 1 pm at 1701 E. FM 700 in Big Spring. Vendors will have gifts, hand crafted items, and fall and Christmas decor.
Holiday Bingo – Continues through December 15th, but prize drawings are anticipated to begin soon.
