BIG SPRING, TX — Big Spring City Councilmembers met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday evening. After meeting in Executive Session, council approved the first reading of an ordinance establishing compensation and benefits for the Presiding Judge and Associate Judges of the Municipal Court of Big Spring with a vote of 6-1, with Councilman Nick Ornelas, District 1, voting against.
During Council Input, Mandy Haynes was congratulated on being appointed Presiding Judge of the City of Big Spring.
Prior to her appointment, Haynes had worked in the legal department for the City of Big Spring for 14 years, but has been a city employee for 19 years. In March, she’ll have been with the City of Big Spring for 20 years.
Haynes was sworn in tomorrow at 11 AM this morning in the 3rd Floor Courtroom at the Howard County Courthouse.
Haynes told KBest News that she’s excited about the new position and has big shoes to fill, but she’s ready to get going. She also stated that the Municipal Court has been an area that she’s always enjoyed working with and she looks forward to playing a bigger part with that.
