BIG SPRING, TX — The West Texas VA held a ceremony on Tuesday morning to celebrate the opening of a new Audiology Clinic. This clinic will make local veteran Audiology services more available within the VA.
The new department includes two large testing booths and a prominent waiting area, and the larger space will also allow for more screening and rehabilitation. The clinic utilizes the latest in technology within hearing health. This will also allow for more effective diagnostic assessments.
“This new space is beautiful. It shows commitment that we are here to stay. We want to expand. We are not shrinking. We have a commitment to Veterans. We wanna grow and expand our services and we want more veterans to come see us. And that’s what we are doing here,” said Tyler Poole, Audiology Supervisor for the West Texas VA.
According to Poole, the hearing aid program through the VA is nationally recognized.
“We give top of the line hearing aids to every veteran that needs them and we are not shy about what we need to do to help. We put the veteran first. The veteran is a the center of every decision we make and all the center of our decisions and care,” continued Poole.
The original plan for the new audiology department was developed in 2016 with construction starting around a year ago. The staff began seeing patients in the new Audiology Department a couple of weeks ago.
