BIG SPRING, TX — On Thursday morning, the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce joined Parkplace Retirement Living for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the remodeling of the facility, located at 501 W. 17th in Big Spring. Parkplace has been serving the community for 19 years and was purchased by Amanda Cole Calvio and her husband Adrian Calvio two years ago.
Amanda Cole Calvio, Owner / Director, told KBest News that remodel was done to make the facility more inviting and more comfortable.
When asked what drew them to purchase, Amanda told KBest News that elder care industry is something that her family has done for many years, going back to her great grandmother.
“Kinda feels like it’s our calling,” said Amanda. “We love our elderly and so we wanted to provide a comfortable, safe place for them to live in Big Spring.”
Amanda went on to say that Parkplace Retirement Living takes care of all the extras in life like the cooking, cleaning, and transportation. Plus, security is also provided.
Parkplace Retirement Living also has Covenant Care which helps residents with medications and bathing. This allows residents to stay in place as long as possible and enjoy their quality of life.
In addition to being an owner, Amanda is also a Registered Nurse and she uses that knowledge to help run the facility.
“The [RN] knowledge that she has here in case some sort of emergency erupts here is invaluable to the residents and the staff,” said Adrian Calvio.
