BIG SPRING, TX — A Christmas in July Food Drive to benefit the Salvation Army and other local food banks will be held next Friday at Limestone Ridge Apartments in Big Spring, 1401 N. US HWY 87.
According to Tina Flores with the Salvation Army of Big Spring, July is a good time to restock their food pantry because many families need assistance to feed children who are out on summer break at this time. In June alone, 110 families were served by the Salvation Army’s food pantry. Flores noted that 29 of those families were new.
“The things we’re able to provide actually help families be able to not be stressed over just food. They can focus on paying their rent and utility bills,” said Flores.
On July 22nd, from 11 am to 2 pm, a grab-n-go lunch will be held at Limestone Ridge in exchange for monetary or canned food donations. Eva Eppler, Community Manager for Limestone Ridge Apartments in Big Spring, told KBest News that all donations – canned goods, monetary, toys, and clothing – will be accepted.
