The Big Spring Steer varsity tennis team hosted the San Angelo Lake View team at Figure 7 Tennis Center on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, to decide the champion of District 4-AAAA.
Both teams had come through their district schedules with perfect records, so it looked to be a real showdown.
Lake View took the lead 4-3 after doubles. 5 of the 7 matches were decided by a third-set super tiebreaker.
Singles proved to be just a hotly contested and most matches were very close. The boys side won 4 of the 6 singles matches, but the girls, who have been dominating all year, won only 1 of 6 singles matches.
The end result was an 11-8 victory for Lake View.
Big Spring will advance as the second-place team from the district into the playoffs which will start around October 26. Plenty time to work on things and improve. The first-round opponent will be the third-place from District 3.
