BIG SPRING, TX — On Thursday, the George H. O’Brien, Jr. VA Medical Center in Big Spring celebrated 75 years of service.
Since opening its doors on July 17, 1950, with their first patient—Marine Corps Veteran James A. Waters—they’ve grown into the West Texas VA Health Care System, dedicated to serving Veterans across the region.
The 75th Anniversary Ceremony included a special cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing their legacy and future. They had both their longest-serving employee and their newest team member join in marking this incredible milestone.
From pioneering innovations in the 1970s to expanding rural care and embracing telehealth today, their commitment to Veterans remains strong.
