The American Association of
Retired Persons is still offering Tax Services for taxpayers with moderate
to low income. They’ll be at the Big Spring Senior Citizen’s Center Mondays,
offering tax preparation with free electronic “E-Filing” for faster
refunds. Interested Taxpayers should bring a Photo ID, Social Security Card.
last year’s tax return, and proof of income. The AARP Tax Aide will be at
the senior center Mondays from 8:00 AM until noon, at 1901 Simler Road.
Tonight, the Kiwanis club will be hosting their annual Pancake Supper, at
the Howard College Cafeteria. The event begins at 4:30 PM, tickets are $6
from Kiwanis Members or at the door, children under 5 get in free! The
Kiwanis club has been active in Howard County for well over 60 years, and
this is their major fundraiser every year. It helps the Kiwanis support
local scholarships, the Boys and Girls club, the West Side Daycare Center,
and international Kiwanis activities. They’re inviting everyone to show up,
enjoy some pancakes sausage and bacon, and continue to help the Kiwanis club
support Howard County.
Tomorrow, Relay for Life will be holding their Cookoff Community
Kickoff! From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Spring Town Plaza, they’ll have teams
set up with different kinds of food to try and raise funds for Relay for
Life! Admission is free, everyone is invited to enjoy some great food, and
support a great organization!
The Red Cross is preparing a recruitment drive for the Permian Basin. March
is Red Cross Month, and tomorrow booths will be set up in Midland Park Mall
and Music City Mall to display opportunities for volunteer work within the
Red Cross. They are inviting everyone out to have the chance at discovering
their inner hero by giving time to help people in our communities.
also this weekend, Law Enforcement agencies will kick off a campaign to
reduce drunk driving. In anticipation of Spring Break, extra officers will
be out in force throughout Howard County from March 7th
to March 23rd.
In addition, the Texas Department of Public Safety seeks to educate and
caution young adults on the dangers of drunk driving, not only in terms of
legal punishment, but in the danger it poses to one’s life and loved ones.
